Lydick Bog Nature Preserve

Lydick Bog, a dedicated Indiana state nature preserve located in South Bend, protects one of the last remaining sphagnum bog habitats in Indiana. Many interesting plant species characteristic of bogs have been identified, including winterberry, tamarack, large cranberry and carnivorous species like round-leaved sundew and pitcher plant. Other wetland types here include marsh, a large riparian corridor, and several kettle hole wetlands.

Directions: From the South Bend Bypass/US 31 to US 20 exit, take US-20 West for approximately one mile. Watch for the preserve entrance on the left. From New Carlisle, take US-20 East for about 6 miles. Watch for the preserve entrance on the right (about ½ mile past Quince Rd).
